Welcome to your June issue of The Audiofile. In this issue we feature the long awaited Jeff Rowland 501 mono blocks, the award winning Yamo E7 speakers, and the first in a series of articles illustrating what's possible with a good custom installation team.
Good things come in small packages.
After the phenomenal success of the 201 mono blocks, Jeff Rowland have followed with the 501 mono blocks.
These tiny ( 2.85" high x 8.4" wide! ) and beautiful amplifiers deliver a staggering 500Watts into 8 ohms, and 1000 Watts into 4 ohms.
They have a very smooth, relaxed, and effortless presentation. With 500 Watts on tap we've found them an excellent match with many difficult to drive high end speakers, bringing out dynamics & life in those speakers that smaller power amps simply cant deliver.
To celebrate the launch of the 501's we'd like to join us at 7pm on Thursday the 30th of June. For an evening of wonderful music & incredible sound. In addition to hearing the new 501's you'll also get to learn a little about the remarkable technology that makes them possible, and witness the New Zealand premier of ProAcs new D140, and D80 reference loudspeakers.

Over the last few months we've featured some of the wonderful products that are available to you. But a great system is about more than just good components. It's about putting together a system in which all the components form a synergistic whole. It's about finding the right components for your exact needs, and then installing and calibrating them properly so you get the very best performance possible.
This is one of the things that sets The Listening Post apart from all the other "pretenders" Our team includes qualified electrical engineers, technicians, electricians, recording engineers, even a physicist. This level of knowledge, experience, skill, and commitment ensures you get the very best solution for your individual needs & budget.
Over the next few months we'll feature just a few of the installations we've recently completed, to give you an idea of what is possible when you have a team of dedicated professionals looking after your home entertainment dreams.
Our first featured installation started life as an unused attic. The end result is a beautifully finished and intimate home theatre. The stunning images are courtesy of a high definition Marantz VP12 projector. Surround sound is handled by top of the line Marantz electronics and Paradigm Reference speakers. To really add "wow" factor our clients opted for Clark Synthesis tactile transducers. These were fitted under floor and really take the home theatre experience to another level.
In the words of our delighted client
"I especially wanted a "wow" factor and this total system certainly delivers on this front. So much so that many visitors have commented on their reluctance to leave when the show is over! The system also works well together and the performance of the Marantz VP12 Projector is truly stunning. A big thanks to The Listening Post team for a very professional job executed extremely well."
"The Listening Post was involved with all facets of the room design from acoustic treatments, lighting, ventilation and air conditioning to interior decoration. The project started to take shape and we made a couple of changes to the initial design which were easily accommodated by the installation team. Hus handled the bulk of the pre-wire and installation of the system. His attention to detail and professionalism created a seamless integration of electronics into the space. This is especially important as when enjoying a DVD or CD the system tends to "blend" into the background leaving just the sights and sounds."
E 7 EISA Award
Jamo E 7 Speaker Series Crowned EISA's Home Theater System Of The Year!
When a consumer electronics journalist declares that a manufacturer has created an award-winning loudspeaker system it's a compliment. when a room full of Europe's most experienced Hi-Fi / AV magazine editors give it an award, it's time to break out the champagne!
We're pleased to confirm that the new Jamo E 700PDD home cinema loudspeaker system has received just such an accolade, having been declared the winner of the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) award in the Home Theater category for 2004-2005.
Who are EISA? Just the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe, with a membership of 50 Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines drawn from 20 European countries.
At the end of June all EISA member magazines came together in Geneva for the most important meeting in their year - the elections of their annual European Awards. From all the new products introduced, each panel had to choose the best equipment in each category.
When it came to this year's Home Theater Category, the panel of judges had no doubt that Jamo's E 700PDD system (comprising four ported E 700 loudspeakers, a ported E 7CEN centre-channel speaker plus an E 7SUB subwoofer) was easily the highlight of the year, commenting...
"The little E 700 satellite delivers a remarkably full-bodied sound and a new decoupled tweeter improves the subjective impression further in terms of speed and ultra-low colouration.
The matching E 7 SUB subwoofer not only adds drama and suspense to movies - its non-vented design, 10 inch drive unit and powerful 675 watts peak amplification delivers the lows in music with a convincing control and fast, authoritative fidelity."
As the judges noted, what makes the main/centre speakers particularly noteworthy is their use of a brand new Jamo innovation. DTT (Decoupled Tweeter Technology), an ingenious tweeter suspension arrangement that vastly reduces high frequency colourations, improving both imaging and clarity. The result is a sonic performance with both music and movies that's nothing short of jaw-dropping, given their very modest price.
If you're looking for great sound on a budget, we couldn't recomend the Jamo E7's more highly. Ranging from $599 to $1499 a pair, they represent outstanding value for money in terms of performance, aesthetics, and quality of finish.
